Philippine Tourism

The Philippines—this is it! This is the tropical paradise that you have been looking for all your life. Now, it’s time to visit our archipelago of 7,107 beautiful islands. These videos provide an infinitesimal glimpse of what the Philippines is all about and the wonders that await you. Whether you are a local, balikbayan, or a foreigner, the Philippines has something for you.

1. It’s More Fun in the Philippines
Let’s start out with the most successful and ingenious Philippine tourism campaign ever. Indeed, as you can see in the video below, eating, traveling, and adventuring in the Philippines is definitely more fun! That’s why we shelved off our plans to visit other countries for now. There are just so many things to do and destinations to explore in our very own country.

This video consists of the main ad and several shorter ones. Be sure to finish the entire clip.

2. More Than the Usual
I first saw this video during our DOT-sponsored Mabuhay Host seminar a few years ago. Even today, this jaw-dropping advertisement still sends shivers down my spine as it shows just how magnificent the Philippines is.

3. Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas MTV
Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas (Choose Philippines) is a vibrant, color-filled MTV. Sung by nationally renowned singer Angeline Quinto, this video shows just how fun-filled life in the Philippines is.

4. Smart DOT Ad
Whether you’re a local, a balikbayan or a foreigner, you will always feel home in the Philippines. This touching Christmas video demonstrates the country’s rich culture and the genuine warmth of the Filipinos.

5. Philippine Airlines Shining Through
After a decade of tyranny, the dictatorial Marcos government was toppled down by the violence-free People’s Power revolution in 1986. For Filipinos all over the world, a new day, full of hope and freedom, has finally risen.

Philippine Airlines, our proud national carrier, wants to show the world that the new and free Philippines is a promised land worth visiting. Indeed, the Pearl of the Orient began to shine through once again.

PAL’s Shining Through is a powerful, nostalgic, and gentle award-winning advertisement. Being martial law babies, our eyes still well up after seeing this.

6. It’s More Fun in Cebu
Do you know where Cebu is? It’s our home island! Check out our humble paradise full of sandy beaches, carefully preserved Spanish structures, mystical waterfalls, verdant mountains, and more! Don’t forget to visit Cebu whenever you visit our country.

7. Biyahe Tayo
Through the power of movies and mass media and coupled with real-life experiences of monetary hardships, millions of Filipinos has left our shores to live a hopefully better life in some other corners of the world. Unfortunately, they haven’t experienced the wonderful destinations, exciting adventures, regional cuisines, and local culture that their own country has to offer.

Biyahe Tayo (Let’s Travel) is a musical project instigated by the Artists for Philippine Tourism. The video aims to encourage Filipinos to visit the country’s countless and awesome destinations. It reintroduces snippets of our unique geography, history, culture, and food that have been buried by the belief that “the West is best.”

This award-winning video has been instrumental in promoting local tourism. It spawned versions like this, this, and this.

8. Philippines from the Sky
Taken by professional French director Frédéric Bussière, this aerial video shows the simple yet majestic beauty of our country. The scenes you see here are taken in the paradises of Puerto Galera, Siargao, El Nido, and Coron.

Personally, this is one of the best independent videos we’ve seen.

9. This is the Philippines
Another nice production by independent producer Gregoire Thiebault, this video shows snippets of Philippine culture and Filipinos’ ordinary lives.

Specially for OFWs

10. Pauwi Na
Pauwi Na (Going Home) is an emotion-filled song composed and performed by Noel Cabangon, one of the country’s most talented musical artists. This beautiful song is about a man’s personal reflection as he prepares to go home to the Philippines.

Pauwi Na is dedicated to all OFWs, our modern-day heroes, who have sacrificed so much to give their families better and brighter futures. OFWs long to go back home to their loved ones, and hopefully, those wishes will come true.

11. Babalik Ka Rin
Babalik Ka Rin (You Will Return) is a promise-filled pop song performed by Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano. No matter where you are, you will always have that longing to return to your homeland.

The aircraft landing at 3:42 made me tear up. That very short and simple scene sums up the joy of knowing that you have finally come home.

12. Visit the Philippines
Set aside the negative portrayals of our country through mass media; all those negative news do not speak for the entire country. We are wholeheartedly inviting you to visit our humble and fascinating country—the Philippines. We promise you won’t regret it.

Make the Philippines a part of your travel plan this year! And the next! And the next!

We hope these videos have encouraged you to jot down itineraries, prepare budgets, plan out trips, and jot down the places you wish to visit in our country. The Philippines has so much to offer for both local and foreign tourists—delicious food, exciting adventures, enlightening cultural and historical sites, unique activities, and more.
