115: How to Tell Someone Where Another Place is in Mandarin Chinese

Whenever you are in a new place or city, and need directions to get to the train station or airport or somewhere else, are you sure you know how to ask? And then, once you have been told, can you be sure you have the right directions?

In this Podcast, you will learn:

(i) To ask another person how to get to your destination

(ii) How to record and follow the directions you have been given

Dialogue: A person is asking how to get to the airport by the underground:

A: 您好,您知道去机场应该在哪站换车么?Nín hǎo, nín zhīdào qù jīchǎng yīnggāi zài nǎ zhàn huàn chē me?

Hello, do you know which station I should transfer to if we want to go to the airport?

B:哦,您要先坐地铁9号线,到六里桥下车,然后换乘10号线,到三元桥下车,然后换机场线就可以了。

Ó, nín yào xiān zuò dìtiě 9 hào xiàn, dào liù lǐ qiáo xià chē, ránhòu huàn chéng 10 hào xiàn, dào sān yuán qiáo xià chē, ránhòu huàn jīchǎng xiàn jiù kěyǐle.

Yes, you should take Line 9 first, then get off in Liu Li Qiao and change to Line 10. You can then go to Sanyuan Qiao to transfer to the airport express which will take you to the airport directly.

A:哦,9号线,然后10号线……Ó,9 hào xiàn, ránhòu 10 hào xiàn……

Oh .., I see. Line 9 and then Line 10.

B: 来,我帮您在地铁图上标一下,这张图您拿好了。Lái, wǒ bāng nín zài dìtiě tú shàng biāo yīxià, zhè zhāng tú nín ná hǎole.
