10 Mass Expected Movies That Didn’t Reach the Peak

Business wasn't that great in 2017. Whether the blame's on the online streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, or lack of good content and bad screenplays, the movies failed to live up to the expectations.

To the disappointment of most producers, many films that were presented with hefty expectations in terms of investment and star cast plopped miserably. Here's our list of Bollywood movies that could have done way better.

Baadshaho: Written by Rajat Arora, and directed and co-produced by Milan Luthria, Baadshaho is a period action film painting the picture of love and admiration between an Indian queen and her bodyguard. It film features Ajay Devgn, Ileana D'Cruz, Emraan Hashmi, Vidyut Jammwal, Esha Gupta and Sanjay Mishra in the lead roles.

Kaabil: Directed by directed by Sanjay Gupta and written by Vijay Kumar Mishra Kaabil stars Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam as the lead pair. The crime thriller portrays the story of a visually impaired married couple whose life comes to a halt after the wife gets raped by somebody with political connections. The revenge of the husband forms the rest of the story. The film was produced by Rakesh Roshan under his banner FilmKraft.

Firangi: Starring Kapil Sharma, who is also the producer, along with Ishita Dutta and Monica Gill, Firangi is about an Indian man during the struggle days who strongly believes that the British are not as bad. Directed by Rajiev Dhingra, the movie portrays a picture of an uneducated and jobless young man who dreams of joining the Police Force but due to some reason or the other, is unsuccessful.

Jab Harry Met Sejal: Jab Harry Met Sejal is a film written and directed by Imtiaz Ali featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. The story revolves around a depressed guide who encounters a young and restless young woman. During the trip, they develop a fascination for each other which later converts into love.

Jagga Jasoos: Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, Jagga Jasoos is a mystery comedy adventure film written and directed by Anurag Basu. The film depicts the adventures of detective Jagga and his quest to find his father, who disappears under mysterious circumstances. The film casts light on the infamous high profile case of Purulia Arms Drop, which took place in the year 1995. The film has an oddly enthralling quality that shouldn't be missed!

Raabta: Directed and produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon and Jim Sarbh in the lead roles. The plot of the movie revolves around love, separation and reincarnation. Raabta speaks about the concept of determination in love and the power of extraordinary things.

Raess: Raees is a movie directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Gauri Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under their respective banners. The movie is said to be based on the life of criminal Abdul Latif, though the makers declared the movie to be a work of fiction. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan, though the film was a critical and commercial success, more was expected out of Shahrukh Khan.

Rangoon: The romantic drama film, Rangoon is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. Supposedly based on the life and story of Bollywood's first original stunt-woman, Mary Ann Evans aka Fearless Nadia, the film stars Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles.

Simran: Starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role and Hiten Kumar, Kishori Shahane, Sohum Shah in supporting roles, the film is loosely based on the life of Sandeep Kaur, a non-resident Indian (NRI) in the US who has been convicted of four bank robberies. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the film is about a girl who robs a bank after losing all her savings in a gambling bout.

Tubelight: Written and directed by Kabir Khan, Tubelight stars Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu and Om Puri. It is an adaptation of the American film 'Little Boy'. It portrays the story of two brothers who undergo their own battles with life. Set during the Sino-Indian war, 1962, the film compares two perspectives of war; one with self and one which is a real physical battle.
