ZTE Unveils the zPad Tablet with 4G LTE

Posted on the 08 January 2015 by Anna Peterson

ZTE, a Chinese telecommunications company known for its affordable phones, has announced a tablet called the zPad. Like the iPad Mini, it comes with an 8-inch IPS LCD screen, and is available in gold (and black), but what makes it different is a 4G LTE chip on the inside.

4G LTE definitely makes the zPad stand out, but its other specs are pretty much the same as the specs of other well-known tablets. There is a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM, plus 8GB of built-in expandable storage.

The zPad comes with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, and two cameras: a 5-megapixel rear one, and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. The tablets is powered by a 4,000mAh battery, and it weighs 320 grams – about the same as Apple’s iPad Mini.

The zPad has only been announced for China at the moment, and we are yet to find out if it will arrive to other countries worldwide. There are no details about its price, either, but our guess is that it will follow ZTE’s low-cost fashion.
