YouTube to Introduce Live Game Streaming, But Can It Rival Twitch?

Posted on the 26 March 2015 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

Google is reportedly planning to revamp YouTube live streaming capabilities to offer a better and an easier way for users to live stream video game and eSports, dubbed “YouTube Live,” according to the Daily Dot.

YouTube has been testing live streaming features since 2010. Even though people rarely live stream on YouTube, Google looked for ways to improve the feature. After failing to acquire Twitch, Google seems to have taken the matters on to its own hands to develop a Twitch competitor.

The Daily Dot was the first to report this rumor. Reaching out to the tech news website, Google has responded to the report with a funny GIF. It seems as if Google is just as surprised as we are.

Even if YouTube comes forward with a game streaming service, it will have to offer some incredible features to win over users from Twitch, which already has a large, loyal and dedicated fan base with cross-platform, easy-to-use live streaming capabilities.

On the other hand, YouTube is already filled with tons of gameplay videos and walkthroughs. YouTube Live will make the recording process much easier for existing users with a big following.

If Google indeed has plans for live game streaming, we will hear more about it at E3 expo in June.
