Your Ultimate Summer Beauty Guide

By Lilylore

Are you ready for summertime fun? Did you already set aside your winter and spring clothes? If you haven't, then this is definitely for you! I am presenting the ultimate, get ready for summer beauty guide.

Your Ultimate Summer Beauty Guide

I recognize we still have a few days before the actual summer time, but I think that is never too early to begin preparing for it since we all experienced one of the worst winters ever, particularly on the east coast. As you should be aware of, in the winter months our skin and hair tends to dry out due to the cold wind, heating system, and other elements, so taking special care now will really pay off when warmer weather begins. Now is also an excellent opportunity to start off the season on the right foot by organizing your personal spaces and putting aside all winter and spring stuff.

Lay off the heating tools! Yes, summer is a great season to go natural, so take charge of your tresses by applying a deep treatment at least twice a month. Go for the homemade kind, rather than the store bought ones, not only because you'll save money, but it's good to stay off all the chemicals some of these treatments contain.

Exfoliate and moisturize your skin regularly. Maybe on a lazy Sunday afternoon, dry brush all the body. Start with the feet and work your way upward, with long circular movements. After that, fill the bathtub with warm water and add a few drops of coconut oil and any other scented oil you may own. If you happen to be out or simply don't own any, you may use plain baby oil, it works just as well. (Go here for my natural Exfoliator tips)
Clean and organize your closet
Now is the chance to put away all the winter coats, boots, sweaters and anything you won't be needing. Bring out all your shorts, tank tops and sandals! Also, figure out what stuff you definitely won't be using again and donate or toss it.

5. Clean and organize your make-up desk or table.

Take the chance to determine if anything has expired and get rid of any old and dry up product. Now will also be beneficial to wash all your brushes. I use plain dish soap with a few drops of coconut or jojoba oil in it to protect their softness. Also write a list of whatever items you may have run out of so you can purchase new ones next time you go shopping. Do not forget to add sunscreen to this list! You'll need it for your many trips to the beach or pool.

Update the bathroom. A pretty and organize space is always more inspiring to be at, mainly if you go to beautify yourself there daily. Throw away any empty bottles, double check if you have enough body wash or soap, and write down on your shopping list any items you might want. It's also a great idea to switch your shower curtain and bath rugs to bright colors and make sure everything is clean and disinfected.

Give yourself a nice mani-pedi with cute bright colors like orange, greenish blue or brilliant pinks. If you don't feel up to the task, then by all means, treat yourself to one. You'll feel fabulous, especially now that your skin is soft and smooth.

7. Always drink plenty of water. Nothing helps your skin look and feel better than hydrating it from the inside by drinking at least a gallon of water a day. Remember that you'll be outside longer and probably exercising extra, so you're going to need to replenish your intake more frequently than winter and spring.

8. 9. Stay in the shade whenever possible. I realize that one might not sit well with everyone, especially all those beach bums that like frolicking in the sun. But staying away from the hazardous UV rays, will help your skin tremendously, and will save you from aging prematurely or adding additional wrinkles to your face and décolletage. Now is also the right occasion to invest in a great pair of sunglasses. Make it a rule to have them always on when you're out in the sunlight.

Don't forget the hands. Most of us don't properly take care of them, but we must treat them as if they were our face. Always apply sunscreen to them and even splurge on a fancy hand mask which you should use at least twice a month. Always wear gloves to wash the dishes and do other household tasks. Trust me, you won't want your hands to look much older than your face in the future. Practicing regular care of them now will ensure your hands remain looking as youthful as the rest of you.

Let your face breathe. Try and go naturally as often as you can. Apply a light moisturizer with SPF 15 and minimal or no make-up. I understand this might be tough, but you're going to be outside sweating anyway. Waterproof mascara and SPF tinted lip balm may totally do the trick on most days. You could also try to only curl your lashes instead. This way you will not rub your eyes every night when taking the product off. Less rubbing fewer wrinkles! Do it as opposed to not smile. Have fun! Take the freedom to get outside and enjoy nature! Nothing better to make you feel new and inspired than doing the things that make you happy. Whether is something so simple as catching a stroll in the park or going on a vacation to an amazing beach location, the important part is that you stop worrying about the small stuff and focus on living in the present.
Remember, be passionate about everything, smile often and hug tightly. Your problems will get resolved in due course if they have a solution and if they don't, then why worry? Let it go! (I may or may not be singing Frozen's Let it go, Let it go)
