Young People Vulnerable to Explicit Contents Online

Young people are coming in contact with sexually-explicit contents online, based on a latest study.

25% of 13 to 15 year olds have experienced sexually explicit pictures on the internet whilst 28% have already been forwarded erotic images on a mobile device.

networking sites such as Facebook, when 37% of 13 to 15-year-olds get seen images of their buddies being drunk.

Some 13% of 13 to 15 year olds acknowledge they also have been encouraged to consume alcohol by their peer group.

The opinion poll, of 800 moms and dads and 600 youngsters, was performed sponsored by drink industry backed charity Drinkaware and parenting charity Family Lives.

It discovered 87% of mother and father believed their kids have been becoming an adult prematurely, together with 86% stating growing contact with modern technology was impacting on that.

Some 74% understood the difficulties experiencing their kids were more severe compared to those who encountered at the similar age, with lots of mentioning sex, drugs as well as smoking.

But youngsters themselves outlined other issues, such as premature alcohol consumption and “sexting” – sending and receiving sexually explicit text messages.

For these kids aged 13 to 15 who have been questioned, 31% confessed drinking when 28% had came across sexually explicit text messages.

This compares to 15% who mentioned they had smoked cigarettes and 4% who had tried other hard drugs. Of these kids’ parents interviewed, 54% had no idea about the word “sexting”.
