Wyoming Whiskey Single Barrel is the single barrel version of the Wyoming Whiskey. That’s simple enough right? If you’re a regular reader then everything I’m about to tell you won’t be a big surprise so feel free to jump down to the Wyoming Whiskey Single Barrel review below. If you’re a new reader, or new to whiskey, and wondering what I’m talking about then take a gander at the next paragraph.
When the guys at Wyoming Whiskey put together a run of their Wyoming Whiskey Small Batch they blend together about 40 barrels of whiskey and that process is lead by their blender Nancy Fraley. After selecting a series of “core casks” and “honey casks” to create the aroma and flavor they’re going for they dump them all into a big tank, allow them to marry for a bit and then bottle it. This Wyoming Whiskey Single Barrel comes from a single barrel that might be used in that process, but was bottled on its own instead of going into one of their small batch releases.

Wyoming Whiskey Single Barrel Review
EYE
Caramel
NOSE
Has an overall nutty character with notes of caramel, spice, vanilla, minerality and brown sugar. Light notes of wood, menthol, fruit and butterscotch come and go, changing places with each sniff. It’s interesting, but not as dynamic as their latest Small Batch (36).
PALATE
Caramel, spice, toasted grain, vanilla, saw dust, minerality and light notes of brown sugar and citrus frosting slide over the palate with ease. Approachable and non-aggressive it’s easy to sip.
FINISH
Short, grain heavy, drop off with bits of dark sweets, minerality, oak and menthol.
BALANCE, BODY & FEEL
Doesn’t quite feel balanced, it’s a bit off. Medium body and a light, almost watery, feel.
OVERALL
This Wyoming Whiskey Single Barrel happened to be on the lighter more mineral driven side of things, but it still wasn’t bad. I’m not craving another glass and I like the current Wyoming Whiskey Batch 36 more, but I’d still offer it up to friends to try, use in cocktails or taste next to a small batch release to compare and contrast. It may not be my favorite, but it’s definitely not terrible.
Being a single barrel product your experience with a Wyoming Whiskey Single Barrel won’t be the same as mine unless you pick up something from barrel 760 as well. Your experience could be better, it could be worse or it could be similar, but it won’t be the exact same and that’s the fun of single barrels. You’re not sure exactly what you’ll get till you open it up.
