World’s Best Drinks Curated by Delhi’s Top Bartenders

Martini, shaken not stirred – famous dialog from James Bond movie which all of us like it and tried to copy at some point in our life. This also shows the personal preferences of drinking our favorite spirit.
It was a knowledge bite for me today, that  if you shake your spirit, ice breaks and dilutes the mixing and hence ideally you should drink it stirred; not shaken. This was shared by one of the famous mixologist and consultant in India Zenuto.
Another interesting point on shaken or stir  by Richard Ehrlich, London NW5 - “Shaking rather than stirring a Martini has two principal effects. One: the rapid movement of ice in shaker melts more of the ice than gentle stirring, thereby diluting the drink. Two: the drink is likely to be cloudy rather than clear. For Martini drinkers, both effects are undesirable”
I have been always fascinated by skills of bartender as and when they throw the mixing glass in the air and then catch them in style. Even in movies I would love the way they flaunt these skills! It looks very fascinating and I was always curious to see how it actually works.Last week Diageo Reserve World Class hosted an event to celebrate world’s best drink curated by three of delhi’s best bartenders Dilbar Singh Ravat (Blue Bar, Taj Palace), Aman Dua (Farzi Café) and Rahul Chettri (ATM) and they created some of the finest cocktails for us which they plan to make during the competition in Mumbai. 17 bartenders have been selected for the completion selected across India. The Diageo Reserve World Class competition is the industry’s biggest and most prestigious bartending competition that has been transforming fine drinking experiences and cocktail culture around the world. This unique platform nurtures the potential talent of local bartenders and enables them with the right knowledge. In the past, it has successfully helped local talent emerge as influencers and creators of fine drinking experiences the world over. Now in its seventh edition, Diageo Reserve World Class will see bartenders competing for the title of the India Bartender of the Year of Diageo Reserve World Class 2015, where the winner will be announced on 25th June in Mumbai. Some of Delhi’s finest will compete as the Top 20 at the National Finals. The finalist will ultimately represent India to take on the world’s best bartenders at Diageo’s seventh annual Global Diageo World Class Competition to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, in September 2015.
