December 1 is celebrated as the World AIDS Day and the theme this year is:
Focus, Partner, Achieve: An AIDS-Free Generation
Arguably one of the most effective plans for global health awareness and Information, Education and Communication activities, the World AIDS Day is generally aimed at getting to zero: zero new infections, zero AIDS related deaths, and what is very important, zero discrimination.
At present India is poised to start a new round of massive surveillance work based on a new principle that has been mulled over for a while now in the global health community: Integrated Biological and Behavioral Surveillance. The National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) India has detailed documentation of this on the official website which can be accessed here.
It is time to reverse the trend and get to Zero!
