If it wasn’t for the fact I am working from home I could never ever afford to work, many child-minders charge full time hours for part time work and nurseries aren’t cheap, plus all the current Government changes, they are making it even harder to work – Says Loretta

I’m 27 and I’ve been a stay at home mum since I was 18 when I had my 1st child Joseph who’s now 8 and a half. He currently doesn’t live with me, he moved in with his nan when he was 5 but that’s a whole other story.

Then there’s Shannon who’s 6, Daniel 4 and Mayson whose 4 months.  We live in Essex.

Although I’m a stay at home mum I have been working from home for the last 14 months as a chat moderator on the bingo site Paddy Power. I love my job, I get to speak to new people as well as the regulars every night and it fits in around the kids, plus we do work meet ups so lots of adult conversations.

In some ways I love being a SAHM, I get to spend time with my kids and watch them grow, but at the same time I feel lonely. I have no friends where I live; I spend most of my time alone. I would love to meet friends for a coffee but I don’t make friends easily anymore.

I did have a friend here but she turned out to be very 2 faced, she set me up and because of her my door got kicked in and I was threatened with a knife in front of 2 of my children who were sat with me and pregnant with my youngest, so now I keep myself to myself and don’t trust anyone new hence having no friends.

To those thinking about becoming a stay at home mum I would say it’s hard.

It’s both rewarding and lonely at the same time, it’s like your children are your only friends but that is not the case for everyone, plenty of mums have a social life and children and never get lonely.

There is definitely not enough support for stay at home mums.

If it wasn’t for the fact I am working from home I could never ever afford to work, many child-minders charge full time hours for part time work and nurseries aren’t cheap, plus all the current Government changes, they are making it even harder to work.

I don’t have much time for myself if any, I don’t even get a bath in peace or get to go to the toilet without someone watching me, but that’s the joys of being a mum.

I don’t really have any hobbies I spend a lot of time on Facebook and I make and sell fudge on the side with my sister, we do it together but separate, as she lives a 15/20 minute drive from me so I don’t see her that often.

Working from home defiantly works for me.
