Wordless Wednesday: LaRita’s Lodge in Upland

By Jessicanunemaker @JessNunemaker

Pink barns. Yes, that's probably the first thing anyone would notice, farmer or not! But they are a part of the beauty found at LaRita's Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Upland, Indiana. Unusual barn colors though they may be, I love the story behind it! Long-time readers may remember that LaRita was not from Indiana. Her husband, LeLand, painted the barns pink to help his wife feel at home. Back in Oklahoma, the setting sun makes the barns look pink. I think that's just the sweetest thing!

This would be a great Indiana bed and breakfast for anyone who has never stayed in a bed and breakfast before. It's comfortable, uncluttered, and on some of the prettiest property you ever did lay your eyes on. There's hills! For someone from the flatland of Northwest Indiana, that's a nice change of pace. Although my visit was during warmer weather, I bet this would be just as lovely all covered in snow.

There's a few animals still on the property. If you recall, I had a chance to watch a baby bull get his dinner! If you've never seen a bottle made for one of those, then you haven't really lived. Buffalo liked to stay just out of my line of sight. Old Mama Kitty, shown below, was wonderful company while I sat on a swing outside.
