Sadly, most of the apps on the Windows Phone app store are from first-time third party developers, who seems to lack the understanding of user experience design. Most of the WP app designs reminds me 2005. And even after almost four years after release, the app store still doesn’t have official apps for many popular services including YouTube, Gmail and SnapChat. As a result, WP users are stuck with paying for third party apps for using these free services.

However, the future appears to be bright for Windows Phone. International Data Corporation says that Windows Phone will soon become “the fastest among the leading smartphone operating system,” with some help from Microsoft-owned Nokia and other WP manufacturers. IDC predicts that Windows Phone market share will rise to 7 percent in 2018.

If Microsoft continues to evolve and support Windows Phone throughout the coming years, introducing new competitive features like Cortana, they will surely be able to save their mobile brand from becoming the next BlackBerry.
