The Great Fred Perry… Fred Perry was the last British man to win the Wimbledon singles title, back in 1936. The sports clothing brand that bears his name was launched in 1952, with its famous laurel wreath logo – which was inspired by the original Wimbledon logo. Perry also had a hand in the invention of the modern sweatband and was winner of the World Table Tennis Championships in 1929.
