Nothing is guaranteed to immediately make you feel at ease and just a little melancholic than a good pedal steel guitar. Wilder Maker’s newest single “Fools” deliveries that touch of melancholic pedal steel and mixes it in with the light country rock that is more reminiscent of Whiskeytown than The Eagles. With lyrics seeping in heartbreak and bitterness and a chorus that rises up to the heavens, it’s the kind of classic sound that instantly makes you weak in the knees with nostalgia. It’s Gabriel Birnbaum’s soft baritone that really makes the track shine – it’s simultaneously easy going while still managing to pack a hefty emotional punch. Wilder Maker’s second EP of a pretty great three EP series is due out April 7th and you can see them on tour through the US this April – dates here.
