Who Just Wants the Jobs - Shas Or Bayit Yehudi?

By Gldmeier @gldmeier

If we won't be in the government, HaBayit HaYehudi will take control on the Religious Councils and the Rabbanut.... If Shas won't be in the government, the El HaMaayan education network will collapse financially. When they weren't part of one of Sharon's governments and they sat in the opposition, it hurt El HaMaayan very badly. We survived, but just barely, and there were serious cutbacks. If this scenario repeats itself, we will be in serious trouble. HaBayit HaYehudi will take control of everything that we will leave.
  -- "Senior" SHAS activist
ironically, at the same time the Shas activist said this, the Shas newspaper, Yom l'Yom, wrote in today's edition:
the HaBayit HaYehudi party sold its soul to the historical Mapai in order to take unlimited government jobs, beginning with the Rabbanut, kashrut, and marriage, and ending with the Ministries of the Interior, Education and Religion, where they devoured every possible good portion they possibly could. And now, when the jobs are no longer in their hands, they attack Shas.
After Naftali Bennet said that the Shas people have disgusted the Torah on the secular people, it hurts Naftali Bennet. Did you understand Bennet? It hurts him that they took the jobs that were once grandfather Burg's..
So, both parties are accusing the other of working hard to get into the government simply for the jobs, and the financial incentives. The difference is that Shas activists are admitting it openly as well about themselves.
