The following is a guest post by my friend Brian McLaughlin:
Idiots, the lot of them. They suffer from blindness of the mind. Their thinking that “black lives matter” is saying that other lives don't. When black men, women and children are approached by an officer with his or her weapon drawn in the same situation a white person is with a conversation, they are already being considered a threat and worthy of death on the street rather than that their life is worth anything. The folks in the movement realize that all lives do matter and they only want to be considered as part of that “all”. They wish for inclusion as people, as other humans and not the 3/5th of a person of the slavery days.  Equality is more than having the same rights. Equality is being treated with the same respect according to those rights. Bigotry of the past taught prejudice that has gotten in the way of “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness.” I saw a cartoon that showed the body of a dead black man next to the body of a dead police officer. Their blood running together. The same red color. The blood of the same specie. Blood that could have been shared to save each others lives. Both were of the human race. Who matters? We all do. When are we going to treat each other in that matter?
