When to Start Your Own Business

By Stacylrust
If you’re thinking of starting your own business, here’s one big thing you should know…

Wondering when is the best time to start your own business? There are AMAZING shifts occurring in the business world today that make NOW the best time to start a new business and have the life you’ve always wanted. There are a few very significant shifts occurring right now in the marketplace that are changing the business playing field:

Consumer Shifts

1. Consumer Demand for Meaningful Business Relationships

Consumers want to do business with companies that truly identify with who they are. Huge, unethical corporate giants are OUT. Flexible, adaptable, authentic businesses are IN. Consumers are CRAVING small companies that they can feel good doing business with. Consumers want to own brands they can be truly proud of.

2. Consumers are Averse to Mass Advertising

Consumers are rejecting mass advertising and demanding ways to eliminate it from their lives (for instance: TIVO, DVR, No-call lists, satellite radio, caller ID, pop-up blockers, spam filters). Consumers only want tailored, relevant, individualized messages. Consumers are sick and tired of being inundated with irrelevant crap. They want only information they are really interested in (because, let’s face it, we all have better things to do than watch a commercial for something we will never be interested in buying).

3. Increased Consumer Leverage

The internet allows consumers to have access to more information about products and services than ever before. A consumer can find out a TON of information about you and your company before they ever contact you. Accurate and dependable consumer information is becoming an increasingly important part of business today. Consumers can also share more information and opinions worldwide than ever before online. Whatever a consumer thinks about your product or service, you can be sure they will tell everyone they know about it, so top quality is a MUST.

Market Shifts

1. The Flexibility of the Internet

The internet allows entrepreneurs incredibly low start-up costs. You can create a web-based business for little to no money at all. Long gone are the days when a large business loan was required to start a new venture. The internet also frees companies to easily serve an international client base. Need to have a meeting with clients in Japan? No problem, web conference to the rescue. Want to work from the Bahamas? Great- just grab your laptop. The internet frees entrepreneurs and allows them to work from ANYWHERE in the world.

2. Significance of Social Media

Social media allows businesses to communicate with customers on a very personal and individual level with little to no communication costs. While business in the past included schmoozing on expensive golf outings and wining and dining, now consumers prefer authentic, valuable communication from someone who has their best interest at heart and who isn’t going to waster their time or attention (and the best part is, social media makes this communication FREE).

Here are some implications of these shifts:

  • Businesses that are smaller and can quickly adapt to changing customer needs will be insanely successful
  • Business that are authentic and genuine will capture and hold consumer attention
  • Unethical companies won’t last very long
  • Companies that don’t treat their customers well won’t last very long
  • Companies with crappy products or services won’t last very long
  • Small start-ups that have a great product and an admirable mission will be favored
  • Strong customer relationships based on great communication will be the difference between success and failure for businesses
  • Your dreams of working flexible hours, traveling the world, have loads of free time and making loads of money, all while making a profound difference in the world are now entirely possible.
Now is the perfect time to start your own business and have the freedom and prosperity you’ve always wanted.

I’ve found that essentially all people crave 2 things: connection and purpose. When people feel truly connected with those around them and are driven by a strong, fulfilling purpose, they are unstoppable. And here’s the best part… women have a phenomenal way of including these 2 pillars in their business models.  Women are born to communicate and naturally connect with their customers. Also, women tend to put a lot of their own personality and purpose into their business ventures.

Women are the future of business- we will revolutionize the way business is done. We will create organizations that will not only allow us to have flexible, prosperous lives, but will also change the world, and we’ll do it by being authentic, connected, and purpose-driven. The time is now.
