What to Wear to Boots & Hearts 2015

We know that everyone with tickets to Boots & Hearts is counting down to August 6, 7, 8, and 9 when some of the biggest and brightest stars in country music will show up at Burl’s Creek. We also know that many of you are trying to figure out what to pack and what to wear – because we see the google searches.

So, here we go with some suggestions for the boys and the girls. If we missed anything – tell us.

note: We’ve got some bonus tips for things to pack if you’re camping for the weekend.

Bottoms

Daisy Duke cut-offs: They’re a staple and we know we’re going to see them, maybe pack 2 pairs because you don’t want to be left in long pants if it gets really hot.

Skirts with Pockets: Pockets are a key here, you’re going to have money and your phone and all kinds of things to carry. If you can find a cute skirt or a dress with pockets, we highly recommend it.

Jeans: They’re a classic and whether you like your loose or tight or faded or ripped, wear ‘em!

Long Shorts: Dudes it’s not that we don’t want to see more of your legs, we just want you to be comfortable. Just like the dresses for the ladies, make sure you have pockets, that means a lot of board shorts aren’t a great option.

note: Ladies, we do not recommend walking around all weekend in your bikini bottoms. You’ll have no pockets or skin covered and the chance for a wardrobe malfunction is through the roof.

Tops

Tank Tops: Ladies and gentlemen, this one’s for both of you. You know what they say Sun’s Out, Guns Out.

Plaid Shirts: Again, this is a country music festival so don’t be scared to wear your plaid with pride. Long sleeves, short sleeves, no sleeves, it doesn’t matter.

Dry-Fit t-shirts: It’s going to be hot, sweaty, and maybe even rainy, so if you can wear something that isn’t going to get soaked and stay soaked, do it.

Bikini Tops: We’re not asking any of you to wear them, but we are pretty darn sure we’re going to see them. And if you do choose to go this way, wear a top that you’re not worried about coming untied during the day.

Warm Long Sleeves: When the sun goes down and the headliners go on, it can get a little chilly. Having a sweater or a long sleeved button down shirt or jacket or something like that is going to be a good idea.

Headwear

Cowboy Hats: Another no-brainer, no matter what style you choose, or color.

Ball Caps: Trucker, full back, snap back, or otherwise – do it up.

Big Floppy Hats: Ladies, they’re all the rage and you look great in them, plus they keep the sun off of your face and shoulders – and that’s awesome. But if you’re going to wear one, try to make sure that you aren’t blocking anyone’s view or hitting anyone in the face with the brim.

Footwear

Yes

Cowboy Boots: This is a country music festival. If you’ve got awesome cowboy boots, wear ’em. Heck, we just might take a picture to share with the world. 

Rain Boots: We know there are cute ones out there and rain is kind of a tradition. We’ve seen some really cute looks with rubber boots and short shorts or flowy skirts.

Durable Sneakers: You’re going to be a doing a lot of walking and standing. We’d recommend that they not be brand new, cause they might get dirty.

Sturdy Sandals: You might have some cool tan lines, but at least they’ll stay in one piece and your feet won’t get too hot.

Cute Strappy Sandals: We’ve seen too many girls blow shoes in the middle of the day. Don’t let that be you in 2015!

Flip Flops: Safety first kids! We know that flip flops aren’t safe shoes for crowds or running or much else really.

Work Boots: There are going to be too many people around for steel toes to be a good idea.

Accessories

Sunglasses: Do not forget your sunglasses. Don’t bring the expensive ones, they might fall off and get stepped on. Bring some of those $10 ones, maybe 2 pairs, and wear them until the sun goes down. You’ll be glad you have them.

Jewellery: Leave the real gold and diamonds at home! If you really want to wear some awesome jewellery, go to Aldo Accessories, Ardene, Claire’s, H&M, Forever 21, something like that – grab some really great looking stuff that doesn’t break the bank, and won’t break your heart if it doesn’t make it home.

Most importantly, wear what you feel comfortable in. If none of these suggestions work for you, ignore them.

More Things to Pack

Y’all know that you need to bring a tent and sleeping bag. So we’re going to quickly list some of the things that can be a little easier to forget.

Flashlight: It’s going to get dark in the camping area when the headliners are done and everyone goes back to their tents. Better that you know where you’re walking.
Water Bottle(s): Bring your water bottle into the festival grounds, there will be water stations for you to refill it and it’s going to be a whole lot cheaper and better for the environment than buying and throwing away plastic bottles over and over again.
Small Bag: If pockets aren’t enough for you to carry all of your things with you, bring a small bag. Remember that you’re going to need to get it checked each time you pass through the gates, so don’t go trying to sneak anything in with it.
Sunscreen: You’re going to be out in the sun for 4 days, that’s a whole lot of rays beating down on your exposed skin. If you’re going to be walking around in short sleeves, tank tops, short shorts, etc. you need to be slapping on the sunscreen so you don’t burn and hurt all weekend.
Bug Spray: We have no idea what the bug situation is going to be like at Burl’s Creek, it’s going to be our first time up there, just like you. So it’s better to play it safe than sorry on this one. Nobody wants to be itchy.
Aloe Vera: In case you forget to put on your sunscreen, or you miss a spot, and end up with a burn, you’re going to want something to put on it and sooth that skin.
After Bite: Just like the burn, if you’re itchy and bitten, you’re going to want something for it.
Games for the Camp Site: Flip Cup, Corn Hole, etc. Just make sure that you’re not putting any of the other campers at risk.
