What's Under the Stand

"Did you UNDERSTAND?" I asked Siri (my 10 year old sister) after explaining her how a seed germinates.
She crept under a tea stand instantly and said "Yeah, see?"I grinned and ignored her knowing her penchant for drama.
"You never understand my under-stand," she said in dismay.
"Well, now you understood my understand" I replied.
We had a hearty laugh after so much of 'understanding' between us. How better it would have been if under-standing is just what she meant. I told her that I'll definitely blog about her under and the stand. She shrugged and further suggested to spread the idea, winking.
How good is your understanding ability?
Long ago, I attended an young scientist's speech. Some of his words got registered on my mind like rock inscriptions. He talked about three important qualities one should possess for success in any field--knowledge, skill and understandability. Of which knowledge grows through learning and skill develops by applying one's attained knowledge. Understanding is different and quite tough a task and has nothing to do with the prior two. I laughed off his notion then, as how can a person apply his knowledge if he doesn't understand it.
On elaborating this concept further he was actually right. For instance take a blender. One should give it current to work is knowledge, skill is getting a perfectly blended product by managing the time you blend it. To become skillful, you need not know how the power supply helped the blades of your blender rotate, which is in fact understanding. So simple it is. Understanding is the flexibility between what you know and think. We don't understand or at least try to understand everything around us. While understanding yourself and convincing your own mind on the ideas you nurture is that difficult, let alone humans and their emotions. Okay, many people don't look at it as complex as I did. But you'll agree with me on the underground mental trauma you face when somebody doesn't understand you or vice versa. It hurts. Lately, women use 'you-never-understand' as often as Rahul Gandhi uses women empowerment and RTI. How do their beaus/boyfriends feel? What do they think? I always wonder. Tell me for sure if you are one, I'm all ears ;)
Understanding underwrites the strength of a relationship. Well, definitely it can not be 100%. The more it is the better the bonding. Mr.Somebody once told me nobody understands you better than you do. That's probably true. After all there's no second person to resist. There's no harm being a little narcissistic.
Still if you can't take somebody not understanding you and respecting your feelings, push them under tea stands and foot stands, out of sight. Those thoughts I mean.
