Happy July, everyone! Looking forward to a whole new month of movies to check out on TCM? Well, there’s a lot of cool stuff going on in July.
First of all, if you’ve been enjoying TCM’s Summer of Darkness series, the good news is there’s still another month of it to look forward to. Just like last month, every Friday this month will be nothing but noir, noir, noir for 24 glorious dark, shadowy hours.
Shirley Temple is July’s Star of the Month and her films will be featured every Monday night.
On July 7 and 8, TCM will be doing a showcase celebrating the 100th anniversary of Technicolor, which spans from 1922’s The Toll of the Sea to 2004’s The Aviator. Since I have a soft spot for the look of early Technicolor, I’m really looking forward to this.

July 1: Happy birthday to Charles Laughton! Payment Deferred at 6:00 AM and The Barretts of Wimpole Street at 7:30 AM are both worth checking out.
July 2: Only on TCM will you find a day that starts out with Haxan at 6:00 AM and end with a night of Treasures from the Disney Vault in prime time. I don’t really have anything to recommend from the Disney Vault line-up, I just love the contrast of going from a silent film about witchcraft to Disney.
July 3: The Summer of Darkness continues! Johnny Belinda at 6:00 Am, Key Largo at 8:00 AM, The Lady from Shanghai at 10:00 AM, The Bribe at 11:30 AM, Scene of the Crime at 1:15 PM, They Live By Night at 3:00 PM, The Threat at 4:45 PM, White Heat at 6:00 PM, The Big Clock at 8:00 PM, The Window at 9:45 PM, Shadow on the Wall at 11:15 PM, High Wall at 12:45 AM, The Long Goodbye at 2:30 AM, and Marlowe at 4:30 AM.
July 4: Happy Independence Day! Of course, 1776 at 3:00 PM is a natural fit for the day. Also, Yankee Doodle Dandy at 8:00 PM.
July 5: All sorts of good stuff on today! Strike Up the Band at 7:45 AM, The Band Wagon at 10:00 AM, The Best Years of Our Lives at 12:00 PM, The Misfits at 3:00 PM, West Side Story at 5:15 PM, Duck Soup at 8:00 PM, and The Great Dictator at 9:30 PM.
July 6: Star of the Month Shirley Temple has her first night in the spotlight tonight with Little Miss Marker at 8:00 PM, Now and Forever at 9:30 PM, Bright Eyes at 12:30 AM, Poor Little Rich Girl at 2:00 AM.
July 7: It’s day 1 of TCM’s 48 hour tribute to Technicolor. I definitely recommend checking out The Toll of the Sea at 6:00 AM; it’s a great example of early Technicolor. There’s also The Viking at 7:00 AM, Doctor X at 8:30 AM, Mystery of the Wax Museum at 10:00 AM, Nothing Sacred at 11:30 AM, A Star is Born (1937) at 1:00 PM, The Adventures of Robin Hood at 4:30 PM, The Red Shoes aat 11:30 PM, and Meet Me in St. Louis at 4:00 AM.
July 8: More Technicolor today with Duel in the Sun at 8:15 AM, Heaven Can Wait at 10:45 AM, The River at 12:45 PM, Singin’ in the Rain at 2:30 PM, The Band Wagon at 4:15 PM, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at 6:15 PM, North By Northwest at 10:00 PM.

July 10: Spend another day in the shadows with the Summer of Darkness. Today’s lineup includes Follow Me Quietly at 6:00 AM, A Woman’s Secret at 7:30 AM, Side Street at 9:00 AM, Black Hand at 10:30 AM, Armored Car Robbery at 12:15 PM, Caged at 1:30 PM, D.O.A. at 3:15 PM, Destination Murder at 4:45 PM, The Tattooed Stranger at 6:15 PM, Red Light at 8:00 PM, Kiss Me Deadly at 9:45 PM, On Dangerous Ground at 11:45 PM, The Hitch-Hiker at 1:30 AM, The Blue Dahlia at 2:45 AM, and Raw Deal at 4:30 AM.
