What Kind of Klout Do You Have?

By Lisa @Lisapatb
If you are on social networks and haven't heard of Klout you must be under a rock. Everyday someone is giving someone else Klout. (it's like a high five) What is Klout all about?
What Kind of Klout Do You Have?
Klout is all about influence. What you share and when you create content, you produce Klout. Your Klout scores measure from 1-100. Klout uses a team of scientists and engineers everyday to produce accuracy of their scores. Your Klout comes from things you are interested in, things you create and share.
Klout uses 3 things to measure from:
  • How many people you influence (True Reach) How much engagement you get from other people
  • How much you influence them (Amplification) Your flow of actions and discussions you get
  • How influential they are (Network Score) The number of people you influence

And here the the social networks they gather from:
  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Foursquare
  • YouTube
  • Instagram
  • Tumbler
  • Blogger
  • Last.fm
  • Flickr
  • Coming Soon: Google+

  • Then they are Klout styles. I'm considered a broadcaster - according to Klout: You broadcast great content that spreads like wildfire. You are an essential information source in your industry. You have a large and diverse audience that values your content. Some others are on Klout are socializers, net-workers, conversationalists, etc.
Do you have to be on every network? No, I know people on just 1 or 2 with high Klout scores. It's about their engagements. Questions, answers, responses. Think of it as being at an in person network event. Do you sit in your own little corner or do you branch out? There are many factors that impact your Klout and no one can understand each and every one and it probably changes just as the social networks do.

Just how important is Klout? I haven't taken it seriously, it's been more for fun but the other day we received a media kit from someone trying to sell us an online program for Christmas. The media kit included their Klout score. That made me wonder. Are people getting more money for their online marketing campaigns if their Klout scores are higher? Are people in social media getting jobs because of their higher Klout scores?
Find out your style and Klout score today by signing up for Klout. You can also compare with me on Klout here. I'd also love to know your thoughts and experiences on Klout!
