Today is International Women's Day, it is also A Day Without a Woman and International Women's Strike. Today women around the world will go on strike from paid and unpaid labor. The idea is that their absence will highlight women's contributions to the world, which too often go unrecognized or taken for granted. However, I, like many women, can't take the day off work.

Those of us who can't take off can still participate and support this movement; avoid shopping for the day (or shop only at women- and minority-owned stores), volunteer for or donate to an organization that helps women, and/or wear red, like this sweater. Red represents a revolutionary spirit, sacrifice, and has a history of being associated with the labor movement. Have to wear a uniform? If possible, add a small red pin to show solidarity.
