WHAT DOES THE XBOX ONE S BRING GAMERS?

The new Xbox One S is finally here and already players are enjoying its boosted performance. It's faster, slicker and bound to make all your current Xbox One gaming experiences feel a whole lot better. But what exactly is under the hood of the Xbox One S and how much better can this revised edition be for gamers?

SPEED & PERFORMANCE

It's almost the flagship factor that's talked about every time when the topic of the new boosted console is raised. There's no doubt it's quicker but in terms of actual spec the revamped console itself has managed to increase its GPU clock-speed from 853MHz up to 914MHz, a 7.1% increase. Coupled also with ESRAM bandwidth increases gamers can now enjoy 219GB/s up from its original 204GB/s. Now these might not seem like huge increases and sure there are certain games where you might not even notice the difference. But popular titles where graphic-intensive scenes of gaming action play out, such as in 'Gears of War 4', players are certainly noticing the improvements thanks to the bolstered hardware.

THE GAMING EXPERIENCE

With speed and power very much at the top of the agenda for this project from the Microsoft development team, it's great to see that other elements of the gaming experience as a whole have been well considered. The new console supports both 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray™ and streaming which means that a lot of your existing Xbox games as well as downloadable content will be able to be up scaled to 4K resolution. There's even a higher contrast ratio as well as the introduction of High Dynamic Range technology which helps improve the visual depth of the game you're playing.

Games like Fallout 4 and Mortal Kombat will now look unreal! That is, if fans of the franchise, that features some of the coolest female fighters ever, buy the console. According to the results of the 14,000 strong poll initiated by Mortal Kombat X's Director Ed Boon, only 7% will bother to pick up the console: Watch out Microsoft!

OPTIONS & ENHANCEMENTS

The new Xbox One S is available as a special edition 2TB model, with a lesser 500GB, 1TB edition to be released in the near future. The console comes in a new white coloured casing, although recent reports are stating that due to its popularity there could be quite a wait for a new batch of white consoles to be released. The console itself is 40% smaller than the standard One mostly thanks to some well-considered button moving and the dropping of the current external power supply. Even the Xbox One controller has had a bit of an overhaul which now features Bluetooth support as well as nice new and comfortable textured grips.
