What Does It Mean to Really Be a Child of God the Father – 2

By None

How often do we abandon ourselves in God the Father’s Divine Will, with the entirety of our minds, hearts, bodies, and souls; in terms of not knowing the outcome to ourselves of such abandonment? That is an abandonment that is both inherent in, and characteristic of, that true simplicity and filial trust of a young child in the infinitely loving, tender, and benevolent Father Who can do no wrong? A childlike simplicity and trust that our Father’s Divine Heart very deeply desires and requests daily from us, so that He can freely fulfill, both within us and the world around us, His paternal and parental functions.

In fact, how many times do we let ourselves be literally led by our Father within both the gross and fine details of our daily lives, by following His lead wholeheartedly, despite not knowing ahead of time what the outcome would be? Moreover how many times do we let ourselves be similarly led by our Father, with the fullness of our hearts and minds, even when we suspect that the outcome could decidedly be outside our expectations, if not directly contrary to them: that is in the face of an outcome that would seemingly appear to go against all kinds of reason? Precisely that blinkered reason (for we do not know God’s plan) that we so proudly love employing both with ourselves and others, in order to presumptuously rationalize and justify the ‘goodness’ of decisions underlying our generally chosen actions?

As human beings many, if not most, of us have a very prominent impulse to know things ahead of time (and when we do not know them, we seek to know them), in order to be able to control the outcomes of various events that occur in our lives according to our own desires. This impulse seems to be especially prevalent among us in our highly industrialized Western world, where both the intrinsic individual and systemic worldviews are ones predominantly of power and control, both of self and others, in order to “get ahead.”

However such an impulse is directly incompatible with the desires of God the Father’s Divine Heart and Will, for each one of us His children on earth. That is at each and every turn, in both essence and fact, this impulse to know – especially the impulse to know, at least, with some certainty – serves nothing but to hinder, either partially or completely, our ability to truly abandon ourselves within our Father’s Divine Heart. Which abandonment opens up the space for Him to effectively operate within us, leading us Himself directly according to His Divine Will – that is the process of mutuality and reciprocal glorification of God by His children and of the children of God by the Father Himself (the process that existed between Adam and our Father before the former’s fall).

Because the key that unlocks our capacity to truly do and fulfill our Father’s Divine Will on a daily basis is to rest passively and fully in His Heart, in order to effectively let ourselves be led by Him at each and every step of the way. Thus when we allow ourselves to be led in this manner by our Father, the outcome can be guaranteed to be very pleasant and surprising to us in its results, irrespective of the latter’s dimensions, because the outcome always results in the spiritual growth of our souls.
