What Ben’s Looking Into in The Summer Anime 2015 Season – Part I

Posted on the 06 July 2015 by Kaminomi @OrganizationASG

The summer season is finally here!

Well, as an update to my life, I’ve been busy doing summer classes. That was the main reason I was, regrettably, never able to finish my spring posts. However, my classes end on July 2, just in time for this summer season!

Looking at the summer season, I have to say that this one’s pretty weak. Sure, I was able to find some shows, eight to be exact, that look pretty interesting, but it doesn’t seem like there’s much variety in this season. Too much ecchi, far too many kids shows, and a surprising lack of drama. Oh, sure, there’s a new Dragon Ball series coming out, but since I’ve never been a fan of the series, it didn’t seem like something I could get into at this moment.

Anyway, here are the shows from the Summer 2015 season that I’ve been somewhat interested in:

Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri

After reading the synopsis, I don’t really know what to make of this one. It’s an action/adventure/fantasy anime adaptation of a manga that I haven’t read, but have heard some positive things about. I don’t know, I’m not really expecting much with this one, but it has some potential.

Durarara!!x2 Ten

Here’s the first sequel I’ll be watching. Durarara!!x2 Ten is the follow-up to Durarara!!x2 Shou, which I was pretty indifferent to. I know that a lot of people liked it, but I found it hard to get into. I hope that this continuation is better, and I hope that the next season, Ketsu, is good as well. Nothing to do now but wait for this one to start.

Charlotte

Charlotte might be pretty cool. Apparently, it’s about kids and superpowers. Yeah, there are a ton of these shows, so it’ll be hard for this to stand out. However, I’m not too big on the whole “superpowers” genre, so I haven’t been desensitized to the whole genre. Reading the synopsis, I really don’t know what to expect, so just like Gate, I’ll be open-minded because this does seem to have some potential.

Gatchaman Crowds Insight

When I joined OASG, Gatchaman Crowds was one of the first shows I blogged about. I remember liking it a lot, but being very disappointed with the ending. It was announced not long after the first season had ended that a second season was in the works, but I didn’t have any idea it would have taken this long to finally be broadcast.

This season is being handled by Tatsunoku Productions, just like the first, so we can expect the style to be unchanged. That’s nice, because I really loved the way the first season was presented. I might have to go back and watch the first season to refresh my memory of the series, though.

Aoharu x Kikanjuu

I can see this one being the one I like the least. The synopsis doesn’t offer much, and like most of the shows I watch, I haven’t read the manga. I mean, what else can I say at this point? It looks okay and I might like it, but only time will tell.

Gangsta.

I don’t know much about this one, but I got a recommendation for it based on the manga, so I guess that’s all I need. I mean, the art looks nice and the story seems full of action.

This is one of the two anime I’ll be watching this season that’s streaming on Funimation, so if you want to watch the episodes when they come out, you’ll need a subscription to Funimation’s service.

Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace

What Ben’s Looking Into in The Summer Anime 2015 Season – Part I

This is the only horror/mystery show on my list, and this season is pretty bad for the genre. From what I can tell, this is the only original on my list. I’m pretty cautious when it comes to original works because there’s no real fanbase for the show,

This is the other anime that I’ll be watching that’s streaming on Funimation, so just like with Gangsta., you’ll need to be subscribed to Funimaiton’s service to watch the episodes on time.

Well, I was able to find seven shows to check out, just like in the last spring season. I have to admit, this season, although weak, is much better than last spring’s. Hopefully all seven of these shows are top-notch, and I really hope that I don’t drop any shows this season!
