work outfits While some of you may be taking the week off due to the midweek Fourth of July holiday, not all of us will be so lucky.  That said, for all of you finishing up your weekend and preparing for the week ahead, I am here with my Sunday evening series to help you figure out what you are going to wear tomorrow.  Looking for some help with your work outfits?  You’ve come to the right place.

Below are three styled looks using pieces in the stores now.  While you may not be able to use these exact pieces, unless you happen to own them already, you may have something similar.  Plus, you can dog ear some of the styles featured for your own future shopping outings and, bonus, you’ll already have some ideas on how to style them.

Okay, onto the looks!

I chose this summery work look by Tahari, not only because I love Tahari for work, but because this classic shirtdress is a professional way to wear coral to the office.  To keep it understated, I chose gray shoes and accessories.  Grey is a softer alternative to black that can work all year round.

If color isn’t your thing or if your office environment is super conservative, a stylish solution is to choose pieces that have interesting shapes or cuts in neutral colors.  Here, instead of a boring suit, I chose one that works for summer from Nordstrom but isn’t basic, a pair of versatile shoes that can be worn with black or shades of tan and a nude handbag with upscale details and a fun necklace in ivory.  The colors may be understated but the style isn’t.

To embrace color at work, you may have bought a colorful skirt, like this on by J.Crew, but are now left confused with what to do with it.  Here, I chose to color block it using the colors found in the necklace.  Green, being a versatile color that matches everything, works back to the pink skirt and the whole outfit is finished off with bright blue.  When color blocking, look at the colors found in a print or a piece of jewelry as a guide to bringing in colors to block.
