beluga WHALE WATCHING IN SWEDEN [STREAM]

Sweden is pumping out the jams (seriously). We’ve been listening to and enjoying recent releases from First Aid KitThe Amazing, and now, Beluga. The band’s operations are so clandestine, however, that even the folks at Luxury, the Swedish record label who helped release Beluga’s self-titled single, have never met them. At this point, all we know is that they put two really good songs on their Bandcamp with an almost identical sound — the only difference being a vocal switch from male to female. With no photos and no names attached, it’s easy to appreciate the music simply for what it is. Unambiguously tagged as balearic pop, Beluga’s songs are filled with layered synths over watery ambience – eerie yet beautiful. Buy the songs, put them on repeat and keep an eye and an ear out for more Beluga breaching the web.
