Weekly Wrap Up

By Sara Zwicker @SaraZwicker

I don’t know why I am always surprised when Monday comes around, I mean…it happens every week, but I always feel like the work week is hard and slow and then the weekend comes along, flying by like at a frantic pace and then we are back in the office ready to do it all again. Am I the only one who feels like this?  Two day weekends are just never enough to get things done, relax and feel ready to come back on Monday!  Thankfully, I have the week of Thanksgiving off, so I will have some extended time off shortly!  So…let’s take a look at last week and see how it went, shall we?

Week: 11/3-11/9

Monday:  I woke up and my knees were really sore, like tender to the touch.  I have no idea why…although I have two potential suspects.  It’s either time to change out my running shoes or it’s because I have been wearing high heels everyday for the last 3 weeks which is something I haven’t done in years.  I tend to think its more the heels than anything, but we will see.  Since I didn’t really think it was my running shoes, I sucked it up for a 3 mile run and 2000 meter row.

Tuesday: My knees were still sore, but not as bad as Monday and I think wearing flats the day before helped a lot too.  I got in  2 miles in the 7’s and finished it off with a 2000 meter row.  I just wasn’t feeling my workout but something is better than nothing!

Wednesday:  A lot of you guys already read about my Wednesday workout, so in the hopes of not getting me annoyed all over again, we can proceed to Thursday!

Thursday:  I did my regular Thursday Vinyasa yoga class and taught Group Power in the evening. I am really loving this new Group Power release, its challenging and so much fun, I am going to be sad when I have to switch it up!

Friday:  My knees were feeling much better so I got in 4 miles while watching Grey’s Anatomy on my phone.  I had an early morning meeting so I had to high tail it to get ready and into my office so I planned to do something in the evening after Ashton went to bed, but that didn’t happen as I ended up working until about 10:30 p.m.

:(
 Oh well!

Saturday: During Ashton’s nap I wanted to work out but didn’t want to do PiYo so I pulled out my T25 again and did the Cardio workout. I forgot how much I loved these workouts, so you can bet you will be seeing them in the mix again! Once I was done, Robyn came home from his appointment and I headed out to pick up my nieces.  It was my oldest niece Gianna’s birthday and she wanted to get her belly button pierced for her birthday.  Her mom said it was okay so that was our gift to her.  I was a bit nervous she was either going to scream or pass out since she was so worked up once we got there but she didn’t even flinch when she got it done. She said she barely felt it!  Thank goodness!  We celebrated her not passing out by hitting up Starbucks on the way home and then the girls watched Ashton so Robyn and I could go out for dinner and a movie.  We haven’t seen a movie in the theater together since I was pregnant with Ashton, I remember because we went and saw Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with some of our friends the weekend it came out, which was in December 2011.  Pretty sad….unfortunately, I picked the movie (Gone Girl) and it was TERRIBLE.  I’ll preface this with the book was GREAT, so I was excited to see how they had it play out in the theater, but the movie was slow and drawn out and I wanted to leave an hour into it.   Oh well, it was still a nice night out with Robyn!

Sunday: I took Sunday as a rest day and it was great!  My friend who is a photographer texted me on Saturday night saying she had a cancellation for a holiday mini-photo session and asked if she could take some pics of Ashton so of course, I jumped at the chance!  So, I took Ashton for a session with her and it was AWESOME!  He was such a ham and cooperated perfectly, so afterwards I took him for a little fun at the toy store and we got another Thomas the Train for his train track.  During his nap I took a long, hot bath while I watched How to Get Away with Murder and then we had a family birthday party for Gianna.  It was a great way to wrap up the weekend!

Overall, it wasn’t a stellar week but I still got in a few decent workouts. I still need to make some adjustments to my workouts but I haven’t had much time to actually sit down and think through it and plan it out.  I have a few ideas of what I want to tackle on my extended vacation in December but I need to get something together for the rest of this month.  I don’t have high hopes for anything great this coming week as we have a huge sales and marketing meeting all week which means early morning meetings and late nights all week!

Question of the day

How do you guys plan out your workouts?  Is is always based on a race/event?  Do you wing it or write it down in advance?
