Weekend Box Office: ‘Magic’ At The Box Office? Or Time For A ‘Genisys’?

Magic Mike XXL is going to beat Terminator Genisys. Some people say the tracking is close, but Magic Mike XXL is tracking in women… and there isn’t anything else targeting women right now (except perhaps Spy, which isn’t doing a lot). Expect them to turn out big over the opening span. They’re already buying more presales, and I think as the weekend pans out, Channing Tatum and Co. will beat out Arnold Schwarzenegger and Co. Reviews aren’t amazing for Magic Mike XXL, but they’re better than Genisys. Genisys, also being PG-13, is now in direct competition with the Jurassic juggernaut. The films that will truly benefit will be Inside Out and Max, which won’t feel any new competition coming from any kid friendly flicks until Minions the following week. They should both continue to do well heading into the weekend. Max has the added patriotic feel behind it heading into Independence Day weekend.
