WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS

They were deadlocked at 35, and 16 seconds later, Aaron Rodgers had his doubters wishing they had never even opened their mouths.

TEAM RECORD COMMENTS

1. Packers

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
12-0 Rodgers and company have an udefeated regualr aseason dead in their cross-hairs now after a hard fought win over the NY Giants last week. Rodgers quieted ESPN’s Skip Bayless by using a quick 16 seconds on his final drive leading to  a Game-Winning FG. @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

2. Saints

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
9-3 The “Who ‘Dat Nation” has much to be thrilled about as their Saints are rocking and rolling. The 9-3 Saints are at the top of the NFC South, and with Drew Brees playing like a machine, the sky is the limit for the Saints. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

3. 49ers

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
10-2 The Niners boast a stellar 28-10 turnover ratio this season while controlling both sides of the line with the league-leading run game and its 7th best rush defense. Willis is banged up with the hammy injury, but Aldon Smith continues to be a force on defense for them. @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

4. Patriots

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
9-3 The Patriots are now officially back on track. Now, the Pats are on a 4-game winning streak where they have averaged 35 points per game. They haven’t scored less than 30 points in 31 days, and haven’t scored less than 20 all year. Expect a Super Bowl run from the Brady Bunch. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

5. Ravens

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
9-3 Are the Ravens’ trap-game letdowns past them? It looks like it, but the play of Joe Flacco has to be a red flag for them. 43.5% completion pctge and 10 completions isn’t gonna cut it come the playoffs. @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

6.Steelers

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
9-3 Now, we get serious. After the Steelers obliterated and exposed the Bengals, 35-7, the AFC North race is now a 2-team one. Ravens v. Steelers. Who will finish on top? That one is for Ben Roethlisberger to decide. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

7. Texans

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
9-3 6 straight wins now for Houston. They rank 3rd in rushing yds and have the NFL’s top ranked defense. Yes, Wade Phillips, I am tipping my hat to you. Division rivals Tennessee have a tough one vs the Saints and Houston just may clinch their first AFC South Title this Sunday. @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

8.Falcons

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
7-5 The Falcons were buried by the T.J. Yates-led Texans on Sunday. Obviously, Matt Ryan was no match for the #1 defense in the league as the Falcons totaled an astounding 10 points. Atlanta now has to outlast either the Bears, Lions, Giants, or Cowboys to make the playoffs as an NFC Wild Card. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

9. Lions

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
7-5 Does Jim Schwartz have any control over this team? A constant bevy of unsportsmanlike penalties keep hurting this team. I’m done with backing the Lions. Have they beat anyone decent this year? Losers of 5 out of their last 7 have them reeling. @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

10. Broncos

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
7-5 The Broncos are in the Top 10. I repeat, the Broncos are in the Top 10. Just 52 days ago, the Broncos were 1-4, in last place, and #24 on our rankings. That’s before Tim Tebow took over, and since then he has given the Broncos and the entire city of Denver a winning spirit. Now, the Broncos are in first place. “And Tebow Shall Lead them.” @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

11. Bengals

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
7-5 They are coming off a blowout loss to Pittsburgh and have a huge game at home vs. the Texans this week. If they can avoid the turnovers this week they can stay in the battle for a wild-card spot. Their 6th ranked rush defense will put to the test this week in a big game for the young up and comers.@theknoxscore 1313 Sports

12. Cowboys

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
7-5 Jason Garrett why? For some reason, with the Cowboys deadlocked with the Cardinals, Jason Garrett decided to ice his own kicker. Dan Bailey attempted a 49-yard game-winning field goal, and made it! But there was one problem, Garrett called a timeout. Bailey missed his second attempt, and the Cowboys went on to lose in overtime. I thought he had an Ivy League degree, no? @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

13. Jets

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
7-5 The Jets have been very inconsistent this season. Win 2, Lose 3, Win 3, Lose 2 and now they have 2 in a row. Can they buck this trend and push themselves into the playoffs? At home vs. a struggling Chiefs offense should help matters before the big NY match-up. @theknoxscore 1313Sports

14. Giants

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
6-6 The Giants are at it again. After starting 6-2, the Giants are now 6-6 and on a 4-game losing streak. It seems as if they do this every year, the second-half collapses are now a regular custom. We’ll see if they can bounce back this week in Dallas in a pivotal divisional matchup. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

15. Titans

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
7-5 Chris Johnson has really turned it on of late with three 100 yard rush games in his last 4 games. He is also starting to break-off some big runs. In the Titans losses he is averaging only 2.9 yards per carry at 170 yards over 5 games. In their 7 wins he has 682 yards for an average of 4.6 yards per carry.  @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

16. Bears

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
7-5 The Bears may just be in trouble. With Jay Cutler out for the season and Matt Forte set to miss 2-6 weeks with an MCL Sprain, their offense is limited. In every game this season that the Bears have won, Matt Forte scored a touchdown. Will the Bears win without Forte? We saw the first glimpse of what the Bears offense is like without Cutler or Forte this week against the Chiefs. It wasn’t good. Unless you consider 3 points good, of course. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

17. Raiders

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
7-5 It almost looked like Oakland got ambushed last week and the name Bush on the back of the opponents jersey had a red no tackle practice shirt on. Too many holes on this team’s defense for them to have a chance this week vs. Green Bay.  @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

18. Chargers

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
5-7 The Chargers are back. With a dominant 38-14 slaughtering of the Jaguars on Monday Night, Phillip Rivers & Co. announced to the league that they mean business. No kidding this time, Mr. Rivers. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

19. Bills

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
5-7 The Bills are in an absolute free fall and there is a real possibility they lose every game they have left. They have a still hungry San Diego team, a game vs Miami for the right to climb out of the cellar and then Tebow and Brady to close it out. This is a 360 degree flip from the way they closed out last season.@theknoxscore 1313 Sports

20. Dolphins

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
4-8 The Dolphins are officially on the rise. After posting a 34-14 victory over the first-place Raiders, the ‘Fins are now winners of 4 of their last 5 games. No more Sucking for Luck in Miami… @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

21. Chiefs

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
5-7 A really nice win for KC last week vs the Bears. Tough road ahead on the schedule, but they are in full confidence building mode for next year at this point. Spoiler time anyone? Did anybody else feel that Derrick Johnson hit on Forte in their living room? @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

22. Cardinals

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
5-7 After defeating the Cowboys in overtime on Sunday, the resurgent Cardinals have won 4 of their last 5 games. The Kevin Kolb Project may be starting to pay off for Arizona. Patrick Peterson has energized this team with his dazzling punt returns, and has them on their way to something special in the coming years. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

23.Seahawks

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
5-7 Can I start the petition now to have the MNF game vs the Rams changed? Please. And why does it seem to take Marshawn Lynch half of the season to get his legs churning every year? Can we get some conditioning coaches on this staff perhaps? @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

24. Eagles

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
4-8 The Eagles are done. Just when we thought they would turn the corner after a 34-7 slaughtering of the Cowboys 6 weeks ago, they lose 4 of 5 and fall back into the “Bay of Pigs.” Now, no one is the Eagles’ prey. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

25.Panthers

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
4-8 Cam Newton now has his first two game winning streak, holds the NFL record for rushing TDs by a QB and was named NFC player of the week. He needs to redeem himself from the 3 INT game earlier this season vs Atlanta for them to have a chance at the win. @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

26.Buccaneers

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
4-8 Yet another team on the downfall, the Buccaneers have lost  6 in a row, the second-worst in the league to only the 0-12 Colts. Raheem Morris is obviously unhappy with his young team, and their defense may be the reason, as they have given up an average of 31 points per game during the streak. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

27. Redskins

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
4-8 This is such a hard team to watch play. Their O-Line is awful and their QBs are worse. I see receivers open on the film every week and yet, nothing. Yes, Holmes is seeing more targets lately, great adjustment by Shanahan about 6 weeks too late. @theknoxscore 1313 Sports

28. Jaguars

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
3-9 The Jaguars are desperate for some offense. They have not scored more than 20 points all season, and have not scored more than 20 points in a game since December 19, 2010. Blaine Gabbert looks like a boy among men, as he seems to throw 5 yard passes about 90% of the time, and is too afraid to make mistakes. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

29. Browns

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
4-8 Does anybody else think the schedule makers screwed this team this year? I know they are required to play Baltimore and Pitt twice each, but to do so in the last 5 games is downright evil. Time to get ready for the 2012 draft, provided you have any players left in one piece when the season is over.@theknoxscore 1313 Sports

30. Vikings

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
2-10 Yet another team fell victim to the magic of Tim Tebow as the Vikings lost to the Broncos, 35-32. This team seems to have the talent: Christian Ponder, Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin, Jared Allen, but they just are unable to pull it all together. At 2-10, it looks like the Purple People Eaters will have to wait ’till next year. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

31. Rams

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
2-10 Brandon Lloyd has been a bright spot for them this season. They should apologize to S. Jackson for their lack of a team. Will McDaniels still have a job as the OC after this season’s QB shuffle and lack of points? @theknoxscore1313 Sports

32.Colts

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS
0-12 Dan Orlovsky improved his record as a starter to 0-8 this week with a loss at New England. The Colts are bad. @SamsSportsBrief Sam’s Sports Brief

WEEK 14 NFL POWER RANKINGS

Bring out the Luck jerseys boys! The Colts are 0-12, and can sure use some Luck.

This was another very interesting week as far as the individual rankings go. Sam’s 3,4,5 was Patriots, 49ers, Ravens and JB’s was 49ers, Ravens, Patriots. Lots of diversity there. While JB ranked the Broncos at #14, Sam had them all the way at #8! Tebowmania much? Also, Sam ranked the Bears at 13, while JB ranked them at #16. In a flip-flop of that result, JB ranked the Giants at #13, while Sam ranked them at #16. Winning 4 out of 5 obviously influenced Sam as he had the Dolphins at #19 compared to JB’s ranking of #23. Sam and JB flip-flopped the Rams and Vikings at #30 and #31, Sam had (30) Rams, (31) Vikings, and JB had (30) Rams and (31) Vikings. Once again, the Colts are #32 on both ballots.
