Wedding Wednesday: The Leap Year Tradition

By Raymondleejewelers @raymondleejwlrs

Happy Wedding Wednesday, readers, and moreover Happy Leap Day! We’re celebrating by re-watching last week’s ace 30 Rock special (watch it, you won’t regret it) and by carpe-ing the one diem we only get once every 4 years. For some, this auspicious occasion means another reason to seize the day. According to Irish legend:

Leap Year has been the traditional time that women can propose marriage….It is believed this tradition was started in 5th century Ireland when St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about women having to wait for so long for a man to propose. According to legend, St. Patrick said the yearning females could propose on this one day in February during the leap year. “

While the Raymond Lee Jewelers‘ team believes that any day of any year is a perfectly good time for a woman to propose, we recognize that this day might be an even better opportunity. So, considering that it’s Wedding Wednesday and February 29th, we’ve made like Amy Adams and chosen some of our favorite men’s wedding bands that we think are just perfect for popping the question to your gent.

Would you propose on Leap Day? Which ring would you use? Or maybe you’d ask with a luxury watch instead?
