Wear Before & After Baby | Gap Striped Dress

By Verybusymama @verybusymama
On Sunday I had a baby shower with family and friends. I wasn't going to have one initially, but I was convinced that I should and now I'm super happy that I did.
It was a fun day yet extremely exhausting - all I could think about was taking a nap. I am being induced on Wednesday night, so my mind is on this coming week and everything I have still to do!
I really wanted to be comfortable and cute for the day and I had ZERO plans to buy anything for the occasion. However, when I went to try on the dress I had in mind, it just didn't fit.  I really didn't want to shop just for this - what's the point?
So I decided to use the very generous gift card from the Gap that my father gave me for Christmas. I was saving it for post baby shopping, but I thought I'll just get a dress I can wear now and after baby.
It was my lucky day because I was actually spoiled for choice. I ended up getting a non-maternity green and blue striped stretch dress.

SWEET! No extra spending, it fits over the bump, AND I can wear it once the baby is born. Now that's what I like!
I styled the Gap striped dress with a pair of electric blue tights (non maternity), a pink belt, mid heeled oxfords I bought in Chile, the Stella & Dot Carmen Necklace and a skull wrap bracelet that my sister had given to me for my birthday.
Here's a similar version you can wear both during pregnancy and after.
Non maternity baby shower look
GAP striped jersey dress | Hue Opaque stocking
Stella & Dot Spring Awakening Necklace | Target Purple belt
INPINK Rhodium Braid Stretch Bracelet With Topaz Rhinestones
So remember, only the buy the essentials in maternity (jeans and belly bands mostly) and shop one to two sizes up to avoid over overspending.
That way you can easily wear the clothing once your baby is born and not feel like you are still wearing maternity clothing (which can be super depressing at times).

Simple clothing tricks post baby:  Cinch loose tops and blouses with a belt Accessorize with a scarf to cover tummy  Wear a blazer and/or cardigans to dress up tops and cover arms FEEL GOOD and enjoy the new bundle!
¡Besos and stay stylish!

*All items I'm wearing are owned by me or borrowed, unless otherwise stated*
