We Ride from Manila to Subic – Surfin Luau 2015 (A Trend Micro Company Team Building)

By Thesilentpal @thesilentpal

Do you feel the summer? I feel the hot of the summer break right now and every year we have an annual company outing and for the 2nd time we did it again, yes, we ride our bikes from Manila to Subic Bay, Zambales this time. Last year, we rode our bikes from Manila to Nasugbu, Batangas and we choose the backdoor route instead of taking the Nasugbu – Tagaytay Road because we wanted to take a closer look at the Kaybiang Tunnel a 300 meter stretch new Tunnel in the Philippines that will connect Batangas and Manila to avoid traffic caused in Tagaytay by car owners.

I can say that the said route is tough for me and especially to my friend Jep because it is his first ever 100KM or century ride and he lost all his energy on the said ride but not the motivation to finish the ride. On this ride, we learned so many things and it was all fixed on our Manila to Subic Ride. Things like, bringing enough water & food, know when will be the last restaurant and eat already even you are not yet hungry because you never know it will be your last meal. Last year we skipped breakfast and settled for Pandesal bread while riding our bike and missed lunch because no available resto anymore and we ended up eating Halo-halo and Banana-Con-Yelo to replenish our energy and fed our rumbling stomach. This is the only ride that I did that I or we haven’t eat any rice meal at all during our ride. On our ride to Subic Bay, Zambales though we have lots of stop overs just to eat, replenish and of course our favorite Halo-halo time. It was a sweet revenge for Jep.

We rode at around 12:30AM because we don’t have any plan on getting it done in 5 or 6 hours. We planned to ride at 15 to 20KPH and will maximize a 12 hour ride that’s why our ride out set to 12AM and we did it we arrive at the venue 1PM and it was good because we are not wasted as compared to last year. This time we enjoyed it even though it was like last year that we started in the flat lands and ended with mountain climbs on which Jep strongly conquered. We had enough energy to participate in the after noon team building activity until the socials night. In fact, I have lots of energy to entertain the night with our Team Akamai Haka Chant, we rock and dance to the tune of “Moves Like Jagger” a Lip Sync Battle for Managers. I will share our Haka Chant video on this blog. Hope you will love it. It’s fun and it was my first time to do this time. OMG! Hahaha! :-D

That’s all about this ride. View some pictures that I took using my Black Berry Bold Camera Phone and some photos that I grab from a friend and to tell the stories of this awesome summer adventure to the Home of the most Beautiful Women in the World, as the Olongapo City claims.
