Watch This, If You’re Feeling Sorry for Yourself

By Eowyn @DrEowyn

He is blind and wheelchair bound, born without sight and afflicted with bilateral anophthalmia and congenital bilateral hip dysplasia.

But that hasn’t stopped Patrick Henry Hughes from playing in his school band, with the love, help, and sacrifices of his awesome dad, Patrick John Hughes.

Our dear lowtechgrannie posted this a year ago, but we can sure use a reminder. This is certain to lift your spirits!

Hughes graduated from Atherton High School, where he participated in the International Baccalaureate program and was a member of National Honor Society. He has graduated from the University of Louisville, magna cum laude where he majored in Spanish and played trumpet in the marching band.

In November 2007, the members of the Hughes family were chosen to be the recipients of a complete home renovation for the show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The episode aired on February 15, 2008.

Hughes is the co-author, with Bryant Stamford, of I Am Potential: Eight Lessons on Living, Loving, and Reaching Your Dreams (ISBN 0738212989; Da Capo Lifelong Books, 2008).

After watching this inspiring father-and-son duo, what’s your excuse for feeling sorry for yourself? LOL
