After his success with Microsoft, the billionaire/inventor/philanthropist Bill Gates spent most of his time helping people in need, including his missions to help tackle the world hunger and to eradicate malaria. His latest mission is to help build a machine that turns human waste into clean water.

The machine, dubbed The OmniProcessor, designed by Seattle engineering firm Janicki Bioenergy turns human poop into electricity and drinking water. The is powerful enough to turn poop from 100,000 people into 86,000 liters of drinkable water and 250 kw of electricity a day.

Bill Gates recently tested the machine himself by drinking the water produced from human waste.

“The water tasted as good as any I’ve had out of a bottle. And having studied the engineering behind it, I would happily drink it every day. It’s that safe.” wrote Gates in his blog.

Gates plans to use this machine to help the 2.5 billion people in the world who lacks access to safe water, starting later this year with its first installment in Dakar, Senegal.
