A renovated bathroom can be amazing for any home. For many, it will increase the value of the place. But for most, it will simply make living in your home a much more pleasant experience. Many homeowners dream of a renovated bathroom, but they know that the task isn’t exactly an easy one.

Bathroom renovation can be a massive stress if you don’t do it properly.

Thinking about time and money

How much you’re willing to spend? You could decide on a design and set of features you love and simply go for it, regardless of spending. But this can see you spending way too much money! Never underestimate how expensive these projects can get. It’s best to think about a budget. Decide on a sum and do your best to make everything work within that limit.

Accurate time estimates are also essential. This can be easier said than done, though. A small bathroom may not necessarily mean less time. Big or small, the project is going to be a time-consuming task. And you’ve also got to remember that there may be problems that drag the process out further. Try to identify all the specific things you’ll be changing. Estimate how long it will take to complete each item. Organize! You should book time off work for this. Consider taking an extra day or two more than the overall estimate you have!

Preparation and safety

Are you going to be doing the work yourself? Or will you be hiring a handyman? If you want to ensure maximum personal safety, you might be best getting an expert to help. This will also ensure that you get the right quality for the job. If you take the DIY route, you have to be careful. Experts may be able to identify potential problems before they occur. You may not.

You should figure out the order in which you’ll be doing the work. It may seem obvious, but it makes sense to go from top to the bottom. Start from the ceiling. Then move onto the walls, then the floor. The floor seems easiest to start with – but the ceiling work afterwards might ruin the new floor!

Is this bathroom your only bathroom? Then make sure you’ve made arrangements! Maybe a friendly neighbor will be willing to help you out.

Style versus function

So what do you want to do with this bathroom? You probably want to modernize your bathroom. But what is a modern bathroom? People have different definitions. But there are some fairly consistent features in people’s lists. Power showers. A lot of space. No carpeting. Modern bathrooms also lend themselves to really nice styles. Big or small, your bathroom can look stylish. Get some bathroom design inspiration before you begin!

However, you mustn’t allow style to take precedence over function. The function should dictate the style! Whatever you do with your bathroom, you need to make sure it works for you. The bathroom might be as pretty as anything, but if moving around and finding things is a pain? Then you’ll regret the entire endeavor!
