Vox Africa Debate on Cannabis

Posted on the 23 November 2012 by Lesterjholloway @brolezholloway

Vox Africa debate on cannabisEarlier this month I blogged about the need to legalise cannabis, and was delighted to expand on the subject at a Vox Africa debate with Dr Ben Whalley, a senior pharmacology lecturer at Reading University, Peter Reynolds from the pro-cannabis campaign group Clear, and Frans Koopmans from the Dutch drug treatment centre De Hoop Foundation.

The video of the Hotseat Debate with Akintayo isn’t available on YouTube but it features on Vox Africa’s website in three parts.

You can see part one here, part two here, and part three here! Also see my original blog (7th November: Legalising Weed Makes Perfect Sensimilla.

I have also uploaded the videos to my YouTube:

On the show

Many thanks to producer George Tah for organising this debate, which explored many angles to the question of legalisation or decriminalisation of cannabis.

My views haven’t changed much but it was an enjoyable programme on an important subject that has profound implications for dealing with the consequences of prohibition, namely tackling the criminals who peddle hard drugs instead of wasting valuable resources on a substance considerably less harmful that alcohol or tobacco.

Anyway, I won’t rehearse the arguments here again, but please watch the debate and let me know what you think!
