Volvo’s New Invisible Paint for Bikes Reflects Light at Night

Posted on the 31 March 2015 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

In Europe alone, 40% of cyclists ride in the dark without lights and 7% of bicycle accidents occur at night due to this fact. Of course, the small and dim lights on bicycles can’t really compete with those heavy lights on cars, which is why “hit by a car” account to most of these accidents. However, Volvo may have found a solution to this problem.

Volvo, the Swedish vehicle manufacturer, has found a way to help cyclists light up at night with their special “LifePaint” spray, which reflects light from car headlights at night. When sprayed onto a bike, the LifePaint looks invisible during the day and get active at night.

Volvo LifePaint can be applied to clothing and helmets as well. The only downside is that the paint lasts for only 10 days unless you get caught in a heavy rain to wash away the paint.

Volvo is currently testing LifePaint in London and Kent area. If the initial testing goes well, the company will distribute LifePaint to more locations.
