This week's NEJM has published the results from the Influenza Vaccine Effectiveness Network's estimates of the effectiveness of the influenza vaccines in the United States of America in 2015-2016. The paper highlights some interesting details and I thought it would be a good chance to try out using the paper to jot down a visual abstract format. As an avid reader of the Controversies in Hospital Infection Prevention blog, I was conversant with the format. They have a growing library of visual abstracts of cool papers in Infectious Diseases here. Finally, I decided to try out the format for myself. Now, usually, the"go to" design seems to be a wide banner-like format, but being a dedicated user of Canva, I decided to try out a different format! Here is my version of the visual abstract of the original research paper in NEJM:
