Visiting the Petaluma Marina

Visiting the Petaluma Marina
One of my favorite things to do in fall is to stroll along the Marina marshes in the early mornings or evenings; it’s magical. Due to its close proximity to the coast, and the river that runs through the town, Petaluma often has windy sunrises and sunsets that are often accompanied by a thick and dramatic marine layer. Watching the comings and goings of the yachts along the Marina with a dramatic sky in the background is something that I always look forward to.
Long walks along the shore call for comfortable waterproof boots, layers to keep warm, and some good local snacks. For my boots, I opted for the Christy Waterproof Tall Boot because of it's comfort and style. With padded insoles and arch support, these chocolate brown boots are both practical for the wet weather, and perfectly stylish for my downtown adventures. With their added cushion and support, these are my go-to for long walks - and since they're not rubbery like traditional rain boots, my feet stay comfortable all day. It's a win-win!
Layers in Sonoma County are key. Weather can often be unpredictable and while days are warm, the evenings get cool quite quickly. My Banana Republic jacket is perfect for layering, as it does a great job of blocking the wind. Jackets such as windbreakers, or cargo jackets make the perfect fall layering piece because they are so well equipped with pockets (practicality) and effortless style. Being the classic pieces that they are, they will long outlive the trends, and will stand the test of time.
After my time along the water I will usually head downtown to meet up with friends for a warm meal at one of my favorite local restaurants. Dinner with friends will often include me sharing a story or two of my (mis)adventures from the day. If you are subscribed to my newsletter, you will know that there was a grand adventure behind these vineyard shots!
