Spicy Mamacita Beer Cocktail

I visited ViewHouse over the weekend to check out their new beer cocktail, just in time for Cinco de Mayo. While many choose to celebrate the holiday with margaritas or Mexican beer, ViewHouses’s Spicy Mamacita is a unique combination of Corona with ViewHouse infused ghost pepper and cucumber vodka, tabasco sauce and fresh jalapeño. I really enjoyed this drink, and it definitely lives up to its name. While I’m not normally a huge fan of Corona, the addition of the vodka infusion, tabasco, and jalapeno made it something special. I highly recommend giving it a try! And if you’re hungry, the nachos pair very well with it. After my spicy drink and food, my mouth was screaming for something a bit more mild.

A Kale Salad seemed like a good option after such a firey drink, and the chef suggested Boulder Beer’s Buffalo Gold to complement it. Not only was the salad pretty to look at, it was also delicious.

Both my nachos and kale salad were wonderful, and I was getting quite full by then. But I wanted to explore a bit more of their vegetarian fare. So next came the Fun Guy Burger (and of course, fries–one my my great loves). Many restaurants offer a portabello burger as a veggie option, and I have to admit I haven’t loved most of them. I personally prefer a bit of a thinner-sliced portabello rather than an extremely thick one, as the thinner ones seem to cook better throughout. To me, the Fun Guy was the perfect consistency. And the goat cheese and garlic mayo on top really “made” the sandwich. This dish was paired with Left Hand’s Nitro Milk Stout.

ViewHouse has a great selection of craft beers, both on tap and in bottles/cans. They have around 25 Colorado beers available, which of course makes me happy! Some of the breweries whose beers they offer are: Great Divide, Ska Brewing (with my favorite on tap–Modus!), Odell, New Belgium, Avery, Breckenridge, Upslope, and more. Ask your server or bartender for their pairing suggestion next time you stop in for lunch or dinner. And don’t forget to try the Spicy Mamacita on Cinco de Mayo!
