Own TV  has released another video where CEO, Oprah Winfrey discusses their successful church drama, Greenleaf.  In the video Oprah, who grew up in a Baptist Church describes what the church is to the black family.  Oprah describes the black church as a counselor, nurturer, friend, comforter, and psychiatrist,

Oprah says that, from the beginning, she wanted her television series, Greenleaf to “come from a truthful space.”

Having grown up in an African-American community that found a connection and spiritual sustenance in the church, Oprah, who is a co-producer of the hit OWN drama, believes the show captures “the essence of the spirit” of what African-American church communities are like. In this digital extra, she explains how Greenleaf reflects the real world.
