Happy Easter! I hope you’re enjoying the long weekend – if you get one that is! Although Easter doesn’t have any religious significance for me, I’ve become so used to Easter meaning school holidays or a long weekend from work, so much so that I always felt a bit hard done by when I lived in South Korea and didn’t get any days off for it. Here in the UK it means four glorious day off work to, if we’re lucky, enjoy the spring weather.
My long weekend isn’t going to be an action-packed one at all. I’ll be spending my time doing some jobs around the house I’ve been putting off and giving this space here a bit of love.
There’s also going to be plenty of treats and here are the treats for a vegan Easter that I’ll be enjoying:
Vegan Hot Cross Buns
After a bit of online research and primary research (that makes it sounds rather official, doesn’t it!?), it seems as though a lot of shop-bought hot cross buns are accidentally vegan hot cross buns. Hurrah! I picked up a batch of pre-packed ones from Sainsbury’s – but if you do the same, please do check the label as not all of their varieties are.
Asda, Waitrose, M&S and Tesco all have at least one variety of vegan-friendly hot cross buns too.
Hot Cross Bun Tea
Cinnamon, currants, orange peel, clove… I adore the flavours of hot cross buns so I was very excited to learn there was such a thing as hot cross bun flavoured tea! And let me tell you, this Baxter’s Buns tea from T2 Tea tastes exactly like the real thing. Better yet, the smell from a brew is enough to fill the air and have you imagining there’s a fresh batch baking in the oven. Did I mention how dreamy the packaging is too?
To take advantage of this loose tea at all times, T2 kindly sent me this fab flask with a built-in infuser. Fancy tea is coming everywhere with me from now on!
Caramel Chocolate Cups
The original plan for these chocolates was mini caramel eggs (ala Galaxy caramel mini eggs) but I left it too late to get hold of any moulds and trying to shape them by hand did not go well. They do work a treat as mini chocolate cups, however, and are made with homemade dairy-free caramel and homemade dairy-free chocolate.

Dairy-free Vegan Easter Eggs
Vegan Easter eggs have never been more popular and I’ve managed to scoff down two already this Easter (yes, I know, mine haven’t actually made it as far as Easter itself). Both this mint dark chocolate Green & Blacks Easter egg and Choices dairy-free milk chocolate caramel were delicious and proof – if we needed it – that being vegan does not mean missing out!
