‘Up’ Gets Real, Man to Fly Across Atlantic Using Helium Balloons

Posted on the 10 November 2012 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

Remember the ‘UP’ movie? Where that old man flies his home using a bunch of helium balloons. It was actually one of the coolest animation movies I’ve ever seen. But I found the idea of flying a home with balloons to be a kind of stupid. Well, it looks like I was wrong, because now a 38-year-old man named Jonathan Trappe is planning to use the same trick to fly cross the Atlantic using 365 helium filled balloon.

Well, he’s not going to fly his home. But, it’s no joke. This man is seriously crazy enough to fly over 2,500 miles with these tiny balloons. Five people have already died in the attempt to cross the Atalantic with helium balloons. But, according to The Telegraph, Trappe says he’s been training for a long time to go for this big goal.

To find the expected $300,000 to buy all his equipment and the balloons for this attempt he has launched a crowd-funding project at Indiegogo. Head over there and help him achieve his dream.
