By Thelostboylloyd @lloydthelostboy

Uniqlo Philippines, which originated from temperate Japan, is bringing their fall winter collection for the first time to tropical Philippines. Curious, I went to the launch to have a first look on what they will be stocking their store starting this September. Read more…

With our irritatingly hot and humid days, winter and even fall clothing may seem inappropriate, but a rep from Uniqlo Philippines assured me that they had carefully gone through their offerings to ensure that the items will fit the Filipino market. Besides, we do experience cooler days and lots of rain during the latter months of the year, right?

For us guys, they have the Easy Pants in both denim and corduroy. Unlike skinny jeans, these pants, available in warm colors that fit the fall and winter seasons,  are a little loose but are soft and comfortable. I actually liked the one in orange.

For women, the Easy Legging Pants are comfortable enough to not restrict movement. Those who want the look and feel of genuine denim, meanwhile, will like the Ultra Stretch Jeans, which has an innovative and incredible stretch. Both come in various colors.

Perhaps the most winter in the collection is the Ultra Light Down. With over a hundred pieces designed for 2012, this line comes in different silhouettes, colors, and prints for both men and women. Separating these from other winter and fall outerwear is their 20-denier nylon that makes them ultra light. After being told that these are some of the hottest-selling items in Japan, I tried a vest, and surprisingly, it wasn’t too warm to wear.

Providing a more classic touch to the collection are the Warm Pants and Warm Skirts. For guys, they have the timeless Easy Cargo Pants and Windproof Chino, while for women, they have the versatile Warm Easy Fleece Skirt and Color HEATTECH Skinny Fit Straight Jeans.

Uniqlo’s signature HEATTECH has even more pieces this season. Guys can have the HEATTECH Crewneck T-Shirt, while women can have the HEATTECH Lounge Dress and Pants.

This season’s Knitwear line has sweaters, cardigans, tunics, and ponchos in so many colors. Each piece is made of fine, natural fabric like merino, Geelong lamb wool, and cashmere. I actually found a nice merino sweater for under a thousand pesos, which is a great deal.

They likewise have their stylish Poncho Collection for the ladies, which consists of flowing, versatile pieces that are made of great fabrics like their signature fleece.

The UU Collection is an exciting collaboration between Uniqlo and the Undercover label of Japanese designer Jun Takahashi. For this season, their warm, cozy knitwear and flannels are dominated by blue, burgundy, and taupe.

Lastly, they have once again collaborated with up and coming designers in Japan for the Designers Invitation Project that promotes unique and innovative clothing. This season, there are pieces from Masahisa Takino, MUG, Aya Noguchi, and Hidenori Kumakiri.

Apparently, Uniqlo Philippines believes that we Filipinos are fun and playful with our clothing, and even with our tropical weather, we could still make fall and winter clothes work.
