Ugh!

To be honest I haven’t been reading much. I’ve been slacking a lot with this book. It really is a hard read for me because I find it so boring. At times it peaks with a twist but usually it stays at a low and mundane state. Maybe that’s not the right word to describe how the book makes me feel but it’s torturous to read. With every word and turn of a page, I feel as though I have to will myself and convince myself that the book is good. Essentially every time I pick it up, I persuade myself into believing that this time it might be great. Maybe it’s a problem with the classics or maybe this book just sucks, I can’t tell yet.
Whatever it may be, I have decided that after I finish this book, I’ll take a break from the classics and pick the most modern book that looks colorful.
Ugh –is the best way for me to describe how I feel reading this book.
I am starting to hate the story because I don’t understand how Clyde can be so foolish with his money and time. Yeah this story isn’t new, there’s always going to be a girl who is materialistic and a guy who is willing to buy in an effort to win her affection. But the story gets tiring.
Unfortunately, I have to read frickin 856 pages about this topic. I am torturing myself because I must finish the book to see how it ends. I always finish what I start. It’s usually a good thing but in this case man! I really want to throw this damn book away.
I guess if you were thinking about reading this book you’re reconsidering huh? Yeah don’t … right now all I can say is, it’s really not worth it.
I’m at the part where Hortense convinces Clyde to purchase a coat for her on a payment plan. And of course stupid Clyde neglects his family to please her. I’m actually pausing at the section where she realizes that he likes Sparser and the more I learn about her, the angrier I get. I start to fume when she is clearly showing how much she is indifferent to Clyde, and somehow he manages to accept it. Hortense is annoying but clever because she uses her woes to get what she wants.
BUT she makes me so upset because instead of working hard to get her desires, she resorts to manipulation and the trade of sexual favors to meet her needs. Yeah she can do whatever she wants because it’s her body, but damn I kinda feel bad for Clyde. But then again not really because he’s an idiot.
I’m just exhausted, but I’ve resigned myself to reading it so I will. For your record I’m on page 129 of 856 pages. Seriously pray for me!

Comment below what do you think of this book? Have you read it and if you did do you like it? Did you really? Don’t lie and don’t be stingy with your thoughts!
