UCSD: Junior Position in Philosophy of Science Or Epistemology Or Metaphysics

The Department of Philosophy, UC San Diego (http://philosophy.ucsd.edu/), is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. Given that commitment, the department invites applications for a junior faculty position. Applicants with strong research records will be considered for the position. The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment is expected to begin 7/1/2014.
The Department will consider applicants whose area of specialization includes epistemology, metaphysics or philosophy of science. The department is particularly interested in recruiting candidates who are committed to the highest standards of scholarship and professional activity, and to the development of a campus climate that supports equality and diversity. Applicants must hold a Ph.D.. Duties include active research, graduate supervision, normal committee service, and classroom teaching at all levels, including general education courses, courses for undergraduate majors and graduate seminars. The standard teaching load is four courses per year. We do not plan to interview at the AP Eastern Division meetings.

All applicants are also asked to summarize in a personal statement any past experience and leadership in equity and diversity, especially activities that include women and historically underrepresented students and faculty, or their potential to make contributions in this area.

Salary: Salary is based on University of California pay scales
