Two Killed in Jasper County, Missouri Crash

Posted on the 02 March 2013 by Caglelawfirm @ZCagle

Two people were tragically killed when a Belleville man was driving his car on a southwest Missouri highway and crossed the center line and struck a pick-up truck head on. The drivers were killed and the auto accident happened around 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. The Missouri Highway Patrol said the crash happened about two miles west of Carthage, Missouri in Jasper County.

As a result, the 22 yr old Belleville man and a 48 year old Carthage woman were killed.  Authorities report that an infant in the 2000 GMC Sierra pick-up did survive.  According to sources, the infant was in a child-safety seat.  It is believed that the infant was the grandson of the 48 year old woman.  The Belleville man was traveling east on Highway HH near County Road 175 and the highway was straight at the crash site.  Witnesses say that the 22 yr old man was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier and crossed the center line in to the path of the pick up

Authorities do not know what could have caused the young man to cross the center line and toxicology tests could take up to 8 weeks.

In our experience there are many causes of auto accidents and they are all tragic. Factors such as weather, visibility, impairment and inattentiveness can cause an accident in mere seconds.  Without witnesses or results from toxicology tests, it will be difficult to determine the causes in a very quick way.

When tragedies such as this occur, the shock and grief can be overwhelming.  Often, we talk with victims of auto accidents that have resulted in serious injuries or even death.  If someone is at fault and there is an injury or a wrongful death, then the victims need legal representation.  Thinking about legal representation at a time like this is difficult, however, evidence must be preserved and investigations conducted…..the sooner the better.

If you have been the victim in an auto accident or if you have lost a loved one in a motor vehicle accident, then you may need legal representation in a personal injury case such as wrongful death.  While no amount of settlement or verdict can return a life, often the loved one lost contributed to the family in many ways and their loss is both emotional and financial.  Loss of companionship as well as financial support is factors in a wrongful death case.
