Twitter Reacts to ‘Boris’ as Londoners Head to Polls in Mayoral Election

The name on everyone’s fingertips on Twitter Thursday morning was “Boris” – London’s current and possibly future mayor. Boris Johnson, Conservative, affable, tow-headed, has been Mayor of London since 2008, when he defeated then mayor and current challenger, Ken Livingstone.

According to The Guardian, Livingstone simply hasn’t been able to catch up to Johnson in the “personality stakes” and, as Londoners head to the polls on Thursday, is unlikely to make up the difference now. But other sources, including the London Evening Standard, claim that the race is much tighter than that: Johnson, wounded by Londoner’s simmering dislike of the Conservative party, is now neck-and-neck with Livingstone.

Whatever happens, the election made “Boris” a trending topic on Twitter Thursday morning (“Livingstone”, perhaps poignantly, was not). Here’s a sample:
